Episode 237: The Nerd Roundtable CONvergence 2016 Edition Part 2

In the second part of The Scope’s grand return to CONvergence 2016, Jared, Shane, and new friend of the show Romeo turn a critical eye to all of the hot topics in the world of fandom.

That’s sure to mean a lot of talking about Star Wars, Marvel movies, the DC Cinematic Universe, and exchange traded index funds.

Okay, maybe not all of those topics. We’ll let you decide which one doesn’t fit.

So stop reading this incredibly well-written text (how many times have we told you to do that over the years, anyway?) and get to listening to the latest podcast from your friends at The Scope!

The Scope episode 237 can’t be evenly divided by two. Deal with it.

Episode 236: The Nerd Roundtable CONvergence 2016 Edition Part 1

After a year or so absence, Jared and Shane bring The Scope back to the coolest convention in Minnesota. You might have heard of it…you know, CONvergence.

This time around, your Scope hosts set up shop at the hotel bar, invited super geek and new friend to the show, Romeo, and started rapping about the convention and the overall state of fandom. Of course it was all captured on a super fancy recording device.

It’s a great conversation not to be missed! So don’t miss it!

The Scope episode 236 doesn’t mind when the waitstaff interrupts…as long as there’s a cocktail involved.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Central Intelligence

With the official first day of summer right around the corner, Scope show regulars Jared and Shane hit the cinema to take aim at a warm-weather film hoping to make huge box-office coin.

The movie: Central Intelligence, featuring action star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and funnyman Kevin Hart. In this “odd couple/buddy” pic, two high school friends are swept up into spy caper, replete with all the comedic trimmings one would expect.

But the real question is this: can Mr. Johnson and Mr. Hart overcome their well-known cinema stereotypes and create a film that aims higher than many of their previous outings? Well, it’s easy to find out. Just get to listening (or watching, if that floats your boat) the latest from your Scope friends!

The Scope Central Intelligence review is like chocolate Google.

Episode 235: Who You Gonna Call? ADAMatic!

Well, just by the title alone, you can definitely get the sense Adam did not return to The Scope for another edition of The Nerd Roundtable.

Instead, Jared and Shane soldiered on as a power-pop duo, talking about Star Wars, Ghostbusters, and the new Hasbro Cinematic Universe.

Even though Adam was missing, his robotic replacement, ADAMatic 2.3.1, popped by the studio to demonstrate his wry wit and angry computer outbursts.

At least it didn’t make Shane cry. He can be quite sensitive.

The Scope episode 235 still waits for Adam’s summertime return…

Episode 234: 2016 Summer Preview

In the first Scope show of the summer, Jared and Shane break down all of the movies and TV shows you need to check out.

It’s probably clear, by this point in the summary text, Adam wasn’t a part of this incredible endeavor. It’s a point of contention, but for every setback comes opportunity. In this case, it might be the return of everyone’s favorite AI, ADAMatic. You’ll just have to tune in!

The Scope episode 234, even with plentiful references to a planet of diarrhea, misses Adam. Will he be back in time for episode 235? Find out next time…

Episode 233: The Scope Instant Show

In an effort to freshen up the format, Jared, Adam, and Shane try something never attempted in Scope history: The Scope Instant Show!

That’s right, the guys put together a new bit on the fly…and the results are astounding! If that wasn’t intriguing enough, would it be more exciting if you knew the entire affair revolved around the music of 1987?

Of course it would. Now sit back and buckle up! You don’t want to miss this Scope gem.

The Scope episode 233 still wonders about The Bono Exception.

Episode 232: Adam’s Newsiest Takeover Ever

The Scope crew is back and on track for the latest episode. For show 232, Adam goes full video game on the news, talks about Cracker Jack, and keeps the snark to a modest minimum.

You’ll also hear mentions of grassy knolls, transwarp drives, and the mutual ignorance society. So, yeah, it’s a pretty good show.

The Scope episode 232 is all about the Batman line dance.

Episode 231: Prince Parked his Purple Prowler in the Parking Lot

It’s the show your Scope hosts hate to do: a retrospective to a fallen icon.

But that’s just what Jared, Adam, and Shane had to do for episode 231.

This week, the guys took a look back at the career and life of Prince. They talked about his music, his legacy, and his impact on the state of Minnesota. The gents also shared some personal stories related to the Purple One. And, if that wasn’t enough, they invited friend to the show John to call in and talk about his face-to-face meetings with Prince.

It’s a melancholy hour or so. But it’s a fitting tribute to a superstar mega-talent who was especially loved by the local Scope guys.

The Scope episode 231 always pays with a hundred dollar bill – crisp.
