Episode 190: You Are The Wurst

The Scope returns with an all news edition of the show. Hot topics include: cabin to cabin moving, the medical equivalent of Dippin’ Dots, and squatting mongoose sitting butterfly. If that makes no sense to you, feel free to digest the latest Scope to get in the know and be as cool as the coolest kid!

The Scope episode 190 really needs a shucking glove.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Equalizer

Denzel Washington joins the pantheon of “very capable men” films with Antione Fuqua’s The Equalizer. He also survives what is probably the most epic example of cool guys don’t look at explosions. Does that add up to a watchable film? Perhaps.

The Scope The Equalizer review has read only six of the 100 books you’re supposed to read.

Episode 189: The Scope’s What If? – Iron Man 1989

In the most high-concept edition of The Scope yet, Jared, Adam, and Shane ask the question: If Marvel started their cinematic universe in 1989 to compete with Warner Brothers’ Batman, who would have been cast in the Iron Man ’89 film? It’s something that requires a lot of thought, a lot of research, and a lot less Morgan Freeman than Adam imagined.

Bonus: because the Scope crew is casting the entire first two phases of the MCU, that means tons of built-in show topics for the next couple of months. Now your Scope crew can be creative and lazy, all at the same time!

The Scope episode 189 would never cast Paul Hogan as Pepper Potts (at least two members of the podcast wouldn’t.)

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Hector and the Search for Happiness

Hector (Simon Pegg) is unhappy. Or he’s not sure what happiness is. In either case, he leaves his girlfriend (Rosamund Pike) at home while he galavants around the globe searching for happiness in Hector and the Search for Happiness. I suppose the title sufficiently explained that part. Anyway, listen in to find out if he and your Scope crew find said same happiness.

The Scope Hector and the Search for Happiness review would never let a little kidnapping and near murder scar us for life.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: This Is Where I Leave You

Batemen. Fey. Fonda. Driver. Byrne. Stoll. Hahn. Britton. Olyphant. Shepard. Schwartz. It’s not the cast for the Expendables 14, it’s the cast of the family dramedy This Is Where I Leave You from director Shawn Levy. Do all these names add up to a whole lot of entertainment? Listen in as Jared and guest host Erin break it down.

The Scope This Is Where I Leave You review always checks its coat pockets for weed.

Episode 188: The 2014 Fall TV Preview

It’s the episode everyone has been waiting for! Yes, Jared, Adam, and Shane make a valiant attempt to cover the upcoming fall TV season. While the guys spend a chunk of time on all the new comic book-based TV shows (gotta appeal to the base) they also take a minute to cover their all-time favorite genre, romantic twenty-something in-the-city comedies.

Sounds like it’s going to be one heck of a time to watch TV, isn’t it?

The Scope episode 188 knows if you can’t say it you can’t play it.

Episode 187: Feminist Bullies Tearing The Scope Apart Oi Oi Oi

With summer on the wane, Jared, Adam, and Shane return to the studio to give every Scope fan and end of the season boost. What does that mean? A lot of rhyming (spoiled boys don’t want their toys,) Ashley Judd hugging talk, and a Jabberjaws revival. If that wasn’t enough, Adam also read some news. Most of it depressing.

So there’s that.

The Scope episode 187 knows the hairy beaver is the best we can do.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The November Man

Our long summer movie journey is at an end, Scope faithful. But have Jared and Shane saved the best for last? To find out, you’ll have fire up an internet-capable device and digest the  final summer movie review of 2014. Of course(?) we’re talking about The November Man.

This spy-thriller, headlined by former Bond Pierce Brosnan, tells the convoluted story of spies, spying, and getting hit whilst running around blind corners.

Where’s Miss. Moneypenny when you need her?

The Scope The November Man review loves magic movie computers.

Episode 186: Scope Madness – Robin Williams Movie Edition

The Scope crew returns with a new show and a new look on an old bit.

This time around, Jared, Adam, and Shane (along with the help of bracketological master, Al) take on Scope Madness, but with the films of Hollywood superstar and recently-departed Robin Williams. It’s a fitting tribute only your Scope podcast could pull off.

And, in a weird twist of something, Adam’s watching the old 1980’s G.I.Joe cartoon. Naturally,  he’s got a few things to say about it…most of revolving around Shipwreck’s talking parrot, Polly. And that sexy Destro.

The Scope episode 186 is concerned with the redemption of said same Mr. Pan.
