Under The Scope | Movie Review: Mad Max: Fury Road

He was a cop. He was Mel Gibson. Now he’s a road warrior and Tom Hardy. But George Miller is still the creative force behind Mad Max: Fury Road, and that may make all the difference when you roam his insane wasteland.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Insurgent

What’s your faction? I hope it’s not Abnegation, because they didn’t fare so well in Divergent, and they are pretty much missing from Insurgent. But all the other factions are represented in some fashion here in the second in what is now being called The Divergent Series of films. Don’t know or care what a faction is? Well, um, maybe go see The Gunman instead, because this film is all about factions. And the factionless. And VR simulations. Oh boy.

The Scope Insurgent review was waiting for Brad Pitt to pop on screen to wonder “What’s in the box?”

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Chappie

Should Neil Blomkamp’s latest South African sci-fi movie, Chappie, really be called Crappie? Well, your two favorite Scope hosts (Jared and Shane, of course) brave the cold arctic air to find out.

If you didn’t know, Chappie is about a crazy police robot that gets artificial intelligence and then learns about the world around him from an assortment of pretty unlikable people.

Also, a heist.

And Hugh Jackman as a mean, mulleted Crocodile Hunter wannabe.

Anyway, check out the latest film analysis from your Scope crew, either by using your eyes and ears (video with sound) or just your ears (podcast with sound.) Whichever path you take, it’s a guarantee there will be no disappointment!

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Hot Tub Time Machine 2

It’s a hot tub. It’s a time machine. It’s a sequel. All your favorites are back — unless your fave was more than just a photo of John Cusack, in which case, you are SOL. Plus, Adam Scott joins the fun as someone named Adam. Huh. This time the gang travels to the future and discovers their love of dick jokes respects no temporal boundaries. Is this film better served by a state of black-out drunkenness? Listen in to find out.

The Scope Hot Tub Time Machine 2 fondly remembers its first Mötley Löu concert.
