Episode 80: The 4th Annual Fall TV Preview

The latest episode of The Scope brings equal doses of pleasure and pain. Adam is back in studio, while Molly had to bow out of her appearance due to “scheduling conflicts.” We’ll let you decide which event corresponds with the good and bad.

To make up for this unforeseen dichotomy, we bring you The 4th Annual Fall TV Preview with gusto and grit. Yes, our expert Molly wasn’t able to sit in on this important event. But we overcame it with many references to Matthew McConaughey (Patchouli and Texas?!?) as well as Jared’s love mild dislike loathing of TV’s Amy Poehler.

Finally, just to make it seem like a full show, we do timely reviews of a TV show on DVD  that has been out for some time and a video game featuring a musical band that some (Adam) call “overrated.” No, it’s not Ace of Base. Although Ace of Base: Rock Band seems like a solid concept for a game, right?

Good times. Good times. (Repeated for comedic impact.)

I do have a dual tuner TiVo, however on Monday nights there will soon be 3 shows I want to watch happening simultaneously. The triple-H of House, Heroes, and How I Met Your Mother. I have set my TiVo so that Heroes is the lowest priority, because out of the 3, Heroes has fans that will post torrents of the shows ASAP after they air, so I can download them to watch within hours of the shows airing.

    Congrats on 80.

I loved the 2nd season of the Conchords.

I would love to try lead vox on “The Sign” if you can get that one. I thought about doing “Don’t Turn Around”, but that would be like to Beatles singing “Norwegian Wood” instead of “Hey Jude” if they could play one last song together even though “Norwegian Wood/Don’t Turn Around” is the far superior song(s).

Great show gents, love the McConoughey impressions. And Jared, I’ve gotta say that your new song is pretty freaking catchy, so good work! Keep up the awesome show guys!

Just through the first segment of the show, but I love the football talk. I am somewhat suprised at the knowledge that you guys were able to display. Great job!
