Episode 115: Patch Adams + Will Smith x iPad = Podcasting Nirvana

The Scope is back after a slightly longer than expected break…but, boy do the guys deliver this time around! Yes, the rumors are true: Adam had to take a sick day. (Probably because he knew Jared and Shane won the First Fall Show Cancelled Competition.) But the remaining hosts do their best to craft another episode that they’d be proud to bring home to mom.

So what exactly does episode 115 hold for the loyal listeners? How about a heartfelt tribute to Steve Jobs and his contributions to society? How about a brand new bit called, “I Really Hate That Movie!” How about Jared putting his own awesome spin on the news? Yes, all of that. Plus a bit of Minnesota sports talk to round out the day. So, yes, it’s the best show ever. Or at least the best show ever done in October of 2011.

The Scope episode 115 knows a proper Robin Williams is a bearded Robin Williams.

My vote for “I hated this movie” is Napoleon Dynamite. Unlikeable characters, shallow situations, forgettable everything. Sure, there are lots of quotations that populated the year that followed its release, but where does it stand now?

Napoleon Dynamite was in my list too. I always felt like it was made by people trying to make a Todd Solondz movie (“Welcome to the Dollhouse” specifically), but had no clue how to make it happen.

Wow, couldn’t disagree more with both of you. I’ve always loved ND (that’s what I call it.) I just rewatched a chunk of it not too long ago and it still made me laugh.

I sense an extended Scope segment (or maybe a brand new bit) coming from this…

I sat straight-faced through it the whole time, just acknowledging when quotes that others had been using came out –the liger thing, and so forth. Of course, I didn’t watch it until I had sick leave for having wisdom teeth removed and I was surfing on vicodin, so that may have had some effect. Did you like Gentlemen Broncos, Shane?

And was Six Degrees of Separation the Will Smith movie you were thinking of?

the only part of napoleon dynamite i liked was, when people were extensively quoting it, my friend who had not seen it just started making up his own quotes that sounded similar to the ones from the movie. of course, once i finally watched it, i realized his mocking, ad-libbed quotes were much, much funnier than the movie.

Other Adam, did you know both your band and Jared’s band are playing that one Northeast bar the same night? Like part of the same show? World’s collide.

    I won’t be going.
