Under The Scope | Movie Review: Everybody Wants Some!!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a baseball-playing college freshman in 1980? Well, Richard Linklater’s film, Everybody Wants Some!!, aims to answer that question.

Starring mostly people from MTV, ABC Family, and the show Glee, this “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused, tells the tale of jock-with a deeper side Jake (Blake Jenner) and his shenanigans with his new baseball teammates in the days leading up to the first day of class at an unnamed Texas University.

Does this teen film belt it out of the park…or does it hit into a double-play? (See what we did there…baseball terminology!) Why not let Jared and Shane, two of the best Scope hosts, answer that question for you? They’ve done all the work and are willing to share the results. The least you could do is watch (or listen!)

Play ball!

The Scope Everybody Wants Some!! review loves a robust and authentic 1980-inspired movie soundtrack.

Episode 228: Batman v Superman v The Scope

The most important super hero event of 2016 (at least to DC and WB) is here! Batman and Superman face off in a battle that holds the fate of planet Earth in their hands! (How’s that for hyperbole?) And your Scope hosts by the names of Jared and Shane are going to tell you how it all went down.

Yeah, it’s a shame Adam couldn’t be in on the fun…but he’s still lost in the woods looking for that one last hidden Easter egg.

So the question remains: will your Scope guys pile on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice like so many others or will they come at it with a more reasoned, rational viewpoint? The only way to find out: watch or listen to the latest episode of The Scope…RIGHT NOW!

The Scope episode 228 wants to see The Great Filet in 70mm, like right now.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: 10 Cloverfield Lane

In our latest Scope movie review, Jared and Shane discuss the super-secretive film, 10 Cloverfield Lane. You know, the possible sequel to Cloverfield (which was kept pretty secret, too.)

In keeping with the spirit of the movie and the actual review, that means this text can’t tell you much about the plot, the twists, the surprise appearance by the entire cast of Roseanne, and the killing, on screen, of Jar-Jar Binks. But if we did, it might be the review ever done on The Scope.

Still, it’s a worthy listen. Or watch. So, won’t you join us on the mysterious journey that is the Scope review of 10 Cloverfield Lane?

The Scope 10 Cloverfield Lane review lacks an appearance by the Cloverfield monster. Maybe he’ll come out and visit on a future show!

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Deadpool

In 2016, the superhero films are a startin’ early. On the latest Scope movie review, Jared and Shane take a look at the first hero film of the year, Deadpool.

The “merc with the mouth” returns to the screen after a disastrous debut in some lousy Wolverine film. This time around, Ryan Reynolds and company try to right the Marvel/X-Men universe ship with a more…faithful take on the beloved comic book character.

That means: a costume that looks like Deadpool, potty humor, ultra violence, and breaking of the 4th wall. So, yeah, this ain’t your typical Marvel film. (And wait until you see old Stan Lee’s cameo!)

The time is now. Check out the Scope review. And then check out the movie. You know you ****ing want to, you ****-****ing **** ****weed. (Inspired by Mr. Pool.)

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Hateful Eight (70mm Roadshow)

Cowboys and Quentin. That’s a combo we can all get behind. And that’s exactly what you’ll do when you see Mr. Tarantino’s latest opus, The Hateful Eight.

In this post Civil War drama, Kurt Russell, Sam Jackson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh play a group of mean folk willing to do mean things to each other. Trust me, any more description would not do this tense, smartly-written film justice.

That being said, what do Jared and Shane think of this picture? And does the 70mm presentation add anything to the mix? Is it possible your Scope hosts give The Hateful Eight an unprecedented eight Scope stars? Why don’t you listen to, or even better, watch their on the road review and find out?

The Scope The Hateful Eight review is not as long as the film.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: In the Heart of the Sea

Thor and a mean, old, giant white whale. That’s what Ron Howard’s dealing with in his latest film, In the Heart of the Sea.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, this movie tells the story that inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. So yes, there’s a lot of harpoons, blubber, and dried lips. (If you see the flick, you’ll know what that means.)

But the real question is if the Scope’s Jared and Shane bought into this historical ocean tale or they thought the story just took on too much water. Why don’t you check out this latest movie review and find out?

The Scope In the Heart of the Sea review won’t climb into a whale carcass to get every drop of oil.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Sisters

In an interesting attempt at counter-programming, the movie studio behind the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler comedy, Sisters, has decided to release the film the same day as Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Luckily for the people behind Sisters, your Scope hosts had a chance to catch a sneak preview of the film. (Because we all know which film Jared and Shane would pick on December 18th.)

And, as luck would have it, your Scope hosts liked this little film about two 40-something siblings going back to throw one last party in their childhood home.

But how much did they enjoy it? Why don’t you take a few minutes, listen to (or watch) the latest movie review from The Scope. After hearing what the guys had to say, you just might have another movie to check out after you watch Episode VII.

The Scope Sisters review is amazed by John Cena’s massive arms and neck tattoo.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Spectre

The world’s sexiest male spy is back and he’s ready to take care of business. (And, no, we’re not talking about Scope show host Adam.)

Yes, because the masses demanded it, James Bond is back in his 431st movie (we did that research without even Googling) titled, Spectre.

In this latest adventure, Daniel Craig’s James Bond is trying to suss out a shadowy organization determined to ruin his day. (Not to mention ruining the day of anyone who hasn’t seen any of the other Craig Bond films. These all tie together, baby.)

So your pals, Jared and Shane, definitely not super spies, take on the task of reviewing the first big budget blockbuster of the Fall/Winter season. Will the guys declare it “Double Oh Awesome” or will they think the movie is just “James Blah?” Feel free to check out the latest and greatest Scope movie review and find out!

The Scope Spectre review is confused with the letter “e” being at the end. Oh so British.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Bridge of Spies

What happens when you mix Tom Hanks and Steve Spielberg in the year of 2015? Well, you get the historical drama, Bridge of Spies.

In the late 1950s, America was knee deep in a Cold War. This little film tells but one of many tales from that crazy time in history. And you can bet Mr. Hanks will give it his best.

But the real question is this: will Jared and Shane like his acting effort? Well, buddy,  there’s only one way to find out. (No, we aren’t going to tell you. Figure it out yourself, slacker.)

The Scope Bridge of Spies review can’t pilot a U2 spy plane.
