Under The Scope | Movie Review: Dunkirk

In an unusual turn of events, the latest Scope Summer movie review is historical in nature (rather than super-hero, fantasy, or cartoon action.) This time around, Jared and Shane get to talkin’ about Chrstopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, a World War II epic if there ever was one.

It’s a risky film for a late July release…does that mean it’s not quite up to Oscar standards? Well, let your Scope hosts take you through a fantastic review to help you get all the answers!

The Scope Dunkirk review never expected an Agent Carter connection.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: War for the Planet of the Apes

Nothing makes a Scope summer movie review better than talking chimps. Luckily for Jared and Shane, the third (and final?) film in the Planet of the Apes reboot, War for the Planet of the Apes, is in theaters right now. Talk about an itch being scratched!

Starring Andy Serkis and Woody Harrelson, this grim special effect extravaganza tries to answer this question once and for all: Can smart monkeys beat not-so-smart humans in a fight to the end?

Well, take a listen to your Scope hosts talk about that…and if this is a movie worth your hard-earned dollars.

The Scope War for the Planet of the Apes review loves a good Steve Zahn ape appearance.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Spider-Man: Homecoming

Your friendly neighborhood ‘cast, The Scope, is back with a “better late than never” review of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

This third reboot of everyone’s favorite wall-crawler is firmly set in the official Marvel Cinematic Universe, complete with Iron Man and Captain America appearances. But will that guarantee this latest edition of Spidey is worth your super-hero time? Listen to Jared and Shane discuss that very issue!

The Scope Spider-Man: Homecoming review doesn’t need a title with a colon in it.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Big Sick

Jared and Shane are back with another summer movie review. And it’s a film both your Scope hosts picked to be one they most wanted to see.

The movie is The Big Sick, the autobiographical story of how comedian Kumail Nanjiani met his wife, Emily. But it’s not your typical love story (you might have gathered that by the title of the film.)

Does this film have what it takes to be one of the best movies of the summer…and year? Well, take a gander at the review and find out!

The Scope The Big Sick review never underestimates Ray Romano.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Wonder Woman

Better late than never, amirite?

Anyhoo, Jared, Shane, and a surprise special guest rap about the movie that finally gets the rebooted DC Comic movie universe back on track. So cozy up to your pod or vid cast player and soak in the love for this fine film.

The Scope Wonder Woman review didn’t see the invisible jet anywhere in this movie. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t in it, does it?

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Alien: Covenant

Next up in the 2017 Scope Summer Movie season is Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott’s pseudo-sequel to the 2012 film, Prometheus.

Starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterson, and Danny McBride(?!?), this movie has thrills, chills, and some xenomorph action. But does it have enough alien acid blood to truly entertain Jared and Shane? Feel free to check out the review and find out!

The Alien: Covenant review knows to never follow a crazy android into a basement full of alien eggs.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The Scope summer movie season of 2017 is officially in overdrive. And the movie that’s making it happen is Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2014 surprise hit.

Can Pratt, Saldana and the rest of the intergalactic cast continue the streak? Take a few minutes and check out Jared, Shane, and a couple of guest reviewers’ opinions on the matter.

You owe it to The Scope. More importantly, you owe it to yourself.

The Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 review has famously huge turds.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

The 2017 Scope Summer movie season kicks off in full gear with the film, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. In this Guy Ritchie retelling of the famous knight story, we get a little GoT, LotR, Snatch, old school Conan the Barbarian, and the video game, Soul Caliber.

But will all of these inspirations combine in a way that makes a compelling movie? Well, sit down, belly up to the roundtable (not the nerd version) and let Jared and Shane tell you!

The Scope King Arthur: Legend of the Sword loves free hat giveaways at free screenings.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: T2 Trainspotting

In the oddly named sequel to the highly influential 1996 film, Trainspotting, Danny Boyle reunites the entire cast a mere twenty years later in T2 Trainspotting. Yes, all of your favorites are back: Spud, Sick Boy, Begbie, and Renton…but middle-aged!

What kind of naughtiness will the gang find? Could this movie ever be as important as the original? Hell, does the world even need the further adventures of Trainspotting? Just sit right back and let Jared and Shane answer all of those questions (and more) in the latest Scope movie review!

The Scope T2 Trainspotting review doesn’t mind a more subtle version of Born Slippy.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Lego Batman Movie

For The Scope’s first movie review of 2017, Jared and Shane take a look at The Lego Batman Movie, a pseudo-sequel to The Lego Movie. But this one is all about Batman, his isolated life, and his nine abs. All in lego form!

But the real question is this: can the voice cast of Will Arnett and company carry an entire Lego movie without the likes of Emmet, Unikitty, and Wylstyle? Listen to review and find out!

The Scope The Lego Batman Movie won’t be called “Bat-Boy.”
