Yes, Mr. Bay is back with another 2+ hours of ADD-infused action, racist/homophobic/xenophobic scripting, and tonally-confused movie-making. This film has learned nothing from the past mistakes of the first two outings (unless you count *more* stereotyping, less Optimus Prime, and an even greater focus on the human side of the story…because that’s what Transformers should be about: the human story.)

Luckily, Jared and Shane sat through this mess so you don’t have to. And trust The Scope: YOU DON’T WANT TO SIT THROUGH THIS MOVIE. But you will want to sit through the official review for Transformers 3, because it is epic. And it keeps it real. The boys break down the entire film, Scope style. Since they do it immediately after it ends, you can guarantee the wounds are fresh, deep, and festering. So take a few minutes, fire up the podcast, and roll out. It’s a good one, Scope Faithful.

So let’s go with what we know for sure. This episode, The Scope takes an emotional journey looking back at songs that changed their lives. It’s a reasonable call your favorite hosts don’t include the most life-changing song of all, Debbie Gibson’s “Electric Youth” in the segment. That would require more brutal honesty than they are willing to give.

It’s also a safe bet your hosts cover some news, talk about politics, and review a great (or not-so-great) current release from a band or solo act that may or may not be relevant this time next year. All in all, it sounds like a pretty awesome episode. You guys should really listen.

And that’s what you get when the show notes are left at home, next to the Star Wars toys and the Voltron robots.

And what comes out of it? A big old Scope mega-mess. But in the best way possible.

Yes, it was Scope host Jared’s party (he didn’t cry, but he could have if he wanted to) and that meant one thing: drunken recording with a bunch of his closest friends (yes, that means Adam was nowhere to be found.) It also meant a truncated show without most of the Scope filler you’ve come to love.

Still, we made the effort to whip up another edition of “Scope Pyramid” (without the lovable Dick Clark) as well as give you a sampling of Under The Scope. We can’t guarantee it was a good show, but we will go on record and say it was shorter than most episodes. And that’s what the world needs…just a little less Scope.

The return is both epic and important in nature. New TV is coming to a, well, TV near you. That means Jared, Adam, Shane, as well as special guest, Scooter, get together and break down all of the new programming choices.

The two takeaways: Far too many new legal shows are coming your way and Scooter is an expert with awkward phone pauses. (Oh, and for all of you Molly lovers: we tried to get her on the show but she was too busy “working at her job trying to earn a living.” Sheesh.)

The gang also tackles the usual bits with their usual pseudo-vigor and actual indifference. But it can’t stop the one undeniable fact:  The Scope is back and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

See, we’re coming off of two excellent episodes of your favorite podcast. We’re talking about shows great guests, fun games, and mucho effort. So with #93, it was time to reload, relax, and get back to basics. That means A LOT of talking. And since we’re clearly experts in the world of deep-sea oil drilling and ocean currents, we focused our time on the tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico.

To balance out the seriousness of it all, we also rap about a couple of summer movies and we start to help Adam pick a wedding date. He really should get a tux with ruffles, right?
