Under The Scope | Movie Review: The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Hey, look! It’s the second summer movie based on a hit spy-themed T.V. show from the 1960s! This time around, there’s no Cruise to be found…because we’re talking about the film adaptation of The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Starring Superman (Henry Cavill) and The Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer), this loose translation of the original source material tells the story of a U.S. spy and a Russian spy, forced to work together during The Cold War. Can they crack case of the missing nuclear bomb (and do it in mod style?) Well, director Guy Ritchie certainly hopes you find out.

But the real question is whether your favorite Scope hosts, Jared and Shane, bought into the concept. Feel free to listen and watch the guys break this film down in a very Scope way.

The Scope The Man From U.N.C.L.E. review isn’t too buff to be a 60s super spy.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation

Tom Cruise returns in the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Rogue Nation. This time, the IMF is shut down, but Ethan Hunt goes rogue against a shadowy criminal organization. Cruise is joined by Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Jeremy Renner as they encounter another agent (Rebecca Ferguson) whose allegiance is unknown.

Is he the rogue? Are they the rogue? Is she the rogue? Are we the rogue? Tune in to find out.

The Scope Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation review can only hold its breathe for like one minute.

Episode 210: The 2015 Summer TV Pre/review

It’s been one heck of a Summer TV season so Jared, Adam, and Shane decided to break it down for all of you Scopeaholics.

That means a lot of talk about True Detective, Mr. Robot, and every show on Comedy Central (thanks, Adam!)

And, because The Scope loves you, Mr. Tom Cruise makes an excellent appearance after long absence. It’s good stuff, people.

The Scope episode 210 is quite interested in webshites.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Pixels

Sandler. Dinklage. Gad. As kids, they ruled the arcades of 1982. As adults, they must defend Earth from aliens attacking using skills from their youth in the action comedy Pixels. Is it worth your quarter to watch them work? Does The Scope dogpile on this movie or strike a different opinion? Tune in to find out!

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Vacation (2015)

Hey, Scope fans! It’s vacation time again! No, that doesn’t mean your favorite Scope hosts are disappearing for a few more weeks in August. We’re talking about the new Ed Helms summer movie, Vacation.

If the title is familiar, it should be. Vacation is a continuation of the extremely popular Chevy Chase series of the 80s. This time around, Rusty Griswold is the man in charge, and he’s taking his family on a cross-country adventure to Wally World, just like he did when he was a teen.

Yeah, it’s been done before. But the question is, can this formula work for modern day audiences? Well, take a listen (or watch, if you are so inclined) to this latest summer movie review from Jared and Shane. They’ll tell you if this holiday road (see what I did there?) is a road worth traveling. Again.

The Scope The Vacation movie review is sad Cousin Eddie didn’t make the trip.

Episode 209: Best Wetstern and That Funny Jewish Man

Episode 209 of The Scope is here and this time around, it’s about catching up with your hosts. They’ll talk CONvergence 2015, really awful hotel rooms, and smosh smooch (don’t ask.) And, believe it or not, the guys do it all while keeping the show pretty tight. Amazing!

So sit down and strap in, partner. You won’t want to miss this all-time average episode!

The Scope episode 209 is shame eating a hot dog pizza.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Ant-Man

Well, the last Marvel Cinematic Universe movie of Phase II and of the year is here. Of course we’re talking about Ant-Man, the Paul Rudd-lead film about a tiny super hero with a lot of heart.

Or something like that.

Being the biggest question mark since Iron-Man, everyone who’s anyone has been wondering: will people get behind a weird Marvel character unknown to the general population? Can Marvel hit with another Guardians-type surprise?

Well, let Jared and Shane answer that question with their fantastic and completely insightful review. By the time it’s over, you’ll know what to do. You’ll know what to do.

The Scope Ant-Man movie review isn’t afraid to go subatomic.

Episode 208: The Hot Dog Combover

Yeah, it’s been a while since your Scope hosts have recorded a new episode. But you knew, in your heart of hearts, that Jared, Adam, and Shane would someday return.

And that time is now!

In the latest episode, the guys break down all the nerdy news (and boy, there’s a lot of it!) you can handle. And they cover such odd topics as: floppy pizza, Watchmen, and continuous sausage. That’s some pretty varied conversation.

So fire up whatever you fire up to digest The Scope. It’s on!

The Scope episode 208 stars Jake Lloyd as Jared.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Terminator Genisys

When Arnold says he’ll be back, he ain’t kidding. Yes, of course that means another film in the beloved Terminator series is now in theaters. This time it’s called (the unfortunately-spelled) Terminator Genisys.

It’s got everything you’d expect from a Terminator film: metal robots, time travel, liquid metal robots, and hammy acting. But the real question is this: can more of the same be any good? Well, check out what Jared and Shane have to say about it. You may not agree with the review…but you’ll definitely be entertained.

(Cue music with clanking metal pipes.)

The Scope Terminator Genisys review has no sloppy pudding.

Under The Scope | Movie Review: Inside Out

In what one might consider a small miracle, Scope host Shane convinced other Scope host Jared to go to a theater and watch a “kids movie.”

How’d he do that, you ask?

Well, because the film was Inside Out, a Pixar animated joint written and directed by local hometown hero, Pete Doctor. He’s one of us, as Minnesotans would say.

Basically, Jared had no choice in the matter.

So fire up your podcast player or your YouTube and find out what the Scope thinks of this star-studded, already critically-acclaimed film. Chances are high they liked it. (We know you can see the Scope score if you are reading this. We’re not thick.)

The Scope Inside Out movie review forgot any core memory concerning the third Scope host…who was that guy?
