Episode 60: The F@#king Short Version

The Scope time travels again as we resume our review of 1998. This time we discuss some of our favorite movies of that year. Do we pick Air Bud: Golden Receiver? That’s our sweet secret.

Also, music correspondent Al returns to the show to lend his learned opinion to all things Oasis, and we try to arrange a Kentucky play date for Adam.

The Scope Competes in the MetroBuzz Podcast Trivia Challenge

Your Scope crew competed this week in the semifinal round of MetroBuzz‘s Podcast Trivia Challenge. Did we dominate in round one fashion, or did we fall flat on out faces accompanied by Tom Cruise’s mocking laughter? You’ll have to tune into Episode 2.31 of MetroBuzz to find out.

Episode 59: Take Your Political Pundits and Shove ’Em Where the Sun Don’t Shine!

We may not do a podcast that either the moderator or Joe Biden want to hear, but we’re goin’ to talk straight to the American people and let them know our track record also.

That could mean one thing: another highly informed and rational political discussion. Jared, Adam, and Shane take aim at the Vice Presidential debate (not at wolves from helicopters) and break it down like only a trio of geeky, sometimes lonely, men would.

We also travel back to the simpler time of 1998 (when you could love Third Eye Blind and *NSYNC in public!!!) to wax poetic about the music of those 365 days. You may take bets to whether Adam sheds a tear over the mere mention of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.” Also. O’Biden.

Episode 58: The Real Victims of Shane

While Carrie knew what she was getting into when she married Shane, it’s unlikely that the rest of her family knew they would be the subject of ridicule by your Scope hosts. Yes it’s time once again for that “one game where Shane asks his in-law relatives general questions, and we lay down huge money bets to see if they got them right or wrong ™”!

We also go over the over-sexualized party for Jared’s birthday, The Scope’s utter domination in trivia, and the terrors of houses making phone calls!

Cable dominates the Emmy’s again.

Episode 57: The 3rd Annual Scope Fall TV Preview

You’re red, we’re blue, whatever you say bounces off of us and sticks to the east coast liberal media elite.

Yes, it’s that time of year once again. So that means a spirited political conversation revolving around a cast member from NBC’s 30 Rock. Oh, we also delve into the 2008 Fall television schedule. And find out how much Adam hates the new album from The Verve (not Pipe).

All of this tomfoolery couldn’t take place without fan-favorite girl guest, Molly, stopping by the Scope Studios! Take it from your hip Scope hosts…this show is poppin’!

One final thing: could someone please leave a comment or two? We can tell that at least five people are listening (not counting wives, girlfriends, and fellow Dukes of Hazzard fan club members.) And, while it pains us to say this, every time we go comment free, Jared feels compelled to punish himself by watching an old rerun of The Facts of Life. From the uninspired final season. Ick. So comment, won’t ya?

Episode 56: It’s The Drive That Sucks

Your Scope crew reunites after five long weeks off with tales of gaming, girls, and geography. We also talk Olympics, and Jared shamelessly admits to watching New Kids on the Block at Mall of America.

Where are your new Scope shows?

Gone Fishin

Get off our backs! It’s summer and all we want to do is pour ourselves a freshly-squeezed glass of lemonade (or Country Time, if we’re lazy), belly up to the old swimmin’ hole, and let the smoldering sun leather up our Speedo-clad bodies.

What that means to you, the loyal Scope listener, is that you won’t get another new show until early next week. But we promise we’ll be back with tales of vacation, action figure hunts, and New Kids on the Block. Until then, enjoy your summer…we’ll be talking at you before you know it.

Episode 55: We Love Christopher Bale!

In the latest episode of The Scope, Shane can’t get enough of post-CONvergence wrap-up conversation, Jared can’t get enough of the pseudo-racist accents in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and Adam can’t get to the show on time.

And because somebody has to fill the vacuum left by Ebert and Roeper, your Scope hosts also take out the review gun and aim at the latest from Beck and some movie with a guy dressed as a studly, spooky bat. And we’re not talking about every one of Adam’s student films.
